It’s been a while since I’ve read a book that I immediately dove back in and re-read. This book had me in its grip! When I tell you I want more PNR, this is what I want. I want fun and excitement, and magic, and romance. I want it all! And this book has it all.

I realize it’s looking very Romantasy with that cover, but it’s PNR. But it’s a no-sex PNR (which is fine, I’m not a smut only girlie, belive it or not! But I wanted that in the review so people who maybe wouldn’t normally read the spicy stuff know that this is something they’ll enjoy).

I wanted kissing. I am 100% okay with the not having sex, in fact with this plot, it worked better without. However, that being said, with the sexual tension these two characters had, I’m so sad there wasn’t much kissing. There should have been making out. The storyline called for it, IMO. A hot and heavy makeout session then having to be stopped because “morals” and “stuff” would have been perfect.

Elle is on a vacation in Scotland when she meets a woman named Isabelle. Isabelle chats with her for a second, and then buys Elle a drink. After that Elle wakes up in a castle in Isabelle’s body. Isabelle somehow switched bodies/lives on her. It happens so that Elle marries Isabelle’s fiance in her place. The rest of the book is Elle trying to get people to believe her, trying to get her new husband to believe her, however Isabelle really burned a lot of bridges and no one will help her, let alone believe her. So she does her best to make the best of the situation, and in the mean time, she falls in love with her new husband who is not just the laird of the clan, but he’s an immortal warrior. That kind of complicates things.

Callen has to wed Isabelle, a woman he hates, because she calms his Berserker soul. Each berserker only wishes for that calm peace his soulmate will bring. But Isabelle/Elle brings him the opposite of calm. But is it Isabelle, or Elle? And what happens if/when her soul switches back? Will Callen finally believe her after all? Or was the real Isabelle his soulmate all along?

I will say that I went into this book with a misunderstanding. I actually thought it was a time travel. It wasn’t, and I’m glad for it. It’s much better as a contemporary with phones and shopping and grumpy billionaire Scottish Berserker lairds. This book is easily one of my favorite books of the year. Absolutely hands down one of my favorite books.

If you miss good PNR, this book is for you! This is a series to watch.
