I wasn’t quite sure what to expect from this series when I picked up the first book on a whim, but what I found was truly magical. Shannon K. Butcher has managed to create a interesting world of great warriors and monsters, hidden here in the present. Three unknown races live and exist among the humans, some lurking in the shadows of the night and others walking among us and saving our human hides.
Theronai warriors live for centuries and are born with a mark that grows as they do. Once mature there mark begins to change, wither and eventually die taking their soul with it. The warriors only hope if to find female of the Theronai bloodline and bind himself to her, stopping and reversing this steady spiral towards death.

Book 1- Burning Alive

Helen Day is plaged with visions of her own firery death and the handsome face that will witness it. She has seen it replayed over and over, fire will once again take from her and she knows there will be no way to stop it. Helen is panicking, can it be? She sees him across the diner. The handsome face, dark hair and the eyes, it’s him. The man who will watch her burn alive.

Drake lounges across the diner’s booth, acting as a human would, sharing a late dinner with two of his fellow Theronai warriors. They had a mission and it was to begin at the coming nightfall. He suddenly realized she was hiding behind her menu, there across the room. A beautiful woman was trying to figure out a way to get out of the diner without being noticed and drawing his attention, at least that’s what he sensed. Why on earth was this human female afraid of him? Drake felt her fear and was also drawn to her. He must find out what is going on and assure her that he was a man that protected humans, not a man to be feared. He must find out who this woman is, and find out right now.

Book 2- Finding the Lost.

Andra Madison was the finder of lost children. Well, not really lost, but those that had been abducted from thier loving families and taken by the monsters. She didn’t know what they were actually called, just that the children had to be saved or they would die a very painful death. She couldn’t let that happen and wouldn’t, if she had anything to do with it. Tonight’s mission had brought her to the old abandoned warehouse. A small boy, Sammy, had been taken by the monsters and she knew it. She had tracked them here and could hear the deep sobs of fear that Sammy made from inside the building. How was she going to get him out and stay alive when there are two of them in there. Two hairy wolflike, no not wolves, just terrible, hidious monsters.

Tonight Paul was on the trail of a Theronai female. He, Logan and Madoc were following the scent of her bloodline, hoping that tonight’s road trip wouldn’t be another bust. Logan said that they were getting very close. just then, there in the light of the SUV she stood at the entrance of the abandoned warehouse. He could see her poised to kick in the door, then splinters flew and she began to charge into the building and he saw that she was also not alone.
