Princess Bronwyn Drachenveil, famed ballerina of the dragon court, signs away three years of her life to descend into treacherous kraken territory, on a mission that could forever change her fate.
Sebastian Morrissey rules Krakenströnd with ruthless precision. Desired by many, feared by all. When an ancient primordial rises from the abyss, threatening the safety of his underwater kingdom, he needs someone clever, nimble—and convincing—at his side. His solution? A fake courtship with the Swan of Ashmorra. The dragon princess now bound to his land.
If Bronwyn plays the kraken king’s consort, acting as his spy, Sebastian will grant her heart’s desire. But the longer the deception continues, the more dangerous the game becomes. Because the kraken king who never believed in love…
May be falling for the woman destined to set his world on fire.
In this fourth installment into the Kings of Fury series, Bronwyn, the sister of the dragon queen, is our heroine. She’s a famous ballerina, and isn’t known for being involved in politics or even for being very aggressive. She’s known for her dancing. As a princess of the dragon homeworld, she has that luxury, however, she wants to dip her toes into politics. She asks to become the diplomat to the kraken kingdom.
The kraken king Sebastian has voted against something Bronwyn wants very badly. And so she makes it her mission to change his mind. However, she also thinks he may be her firebrand-the only person who can calm a berserker rage, i.e. her fated mate. Once she’s in his kingdom, he immediately knows what she wants and why she’s there. He offers to grant her the vote she wants if she’ll be his fake girlfriend. He’ll release her and give her his vote once his mission is complete. His mission? To kill the primordial kraken that’s come back from his imprisonment and wants to rule again. We’ve seen several primordials rising in this series, and something bigger must be on the horizon, in my opinion.
He needs Bronwyn to be on his side to defeat the primordial kraken. She’s in, but as they grow closer, and their fake relationship wants to bloom into a real one, Sebastian starts to pull away. Every time they get close, he pulls away. Once Bronwyn realizes his plan, and her role in it, she has a new mission: to save him and their relationship while also killing the unkillable primordial. You know, super easy. Totally doable. And she totally has a plan for this! (she totally doesn’t have a plan for this!)
This book was so enjoyable! I love this series, and I enjoy the writing. Also, Sebastian looked like Jason Mamoa in my head. I want to say that he’s actually blond in the book, but nothing I did could change him from Jason Mamoa. I felt you all needed to know this lol
This is a fade to black/closed door Romantasy.
