The next YA craze is finally here! Ok, it’s been here, but I am finally jumping on board. I don’t know why it took me so long to pick up this book. Last week, I was shopping in a little bookstore in Davis, Ca, and was browsing through their YA section. Nothing was catching my eye, but this book snagged my husband’s attention. I should let him pick out the next few books I read because this was perfect.
From the very first page until the very end, I was mesmerized by every character and every moment. Roth is brilliant. I am so glad that I had a vacation planned right when I started reading Divergent.
My mind has been wrapped around this book, most thoughts wondering which faction I would choose. Not once did I stop and wonder what was going on. The plot just flowed. I itched to read more every time I put the book down, almost like withdrawals from a drug. I’ve already pre-ordered the third book coming out at the end of this month!
Roth has given us another incredible heroine in Beatrice. One who focuses on true acts of valor and courage. And Four….Tobias….oh my! Let’s just say, I sure hope whoever plays him in the movie realizes the shoes he’s filling.
This dystopian story asks Hunger Games fans, like myself, to question their favorite book in the genre. I look forward to the second, which I will be reading very soon, to really seal the deal for me. If you haven’t read this yet, get it soon! Audiobook, paperback, Kindle, whatever!
*Book Deal* The E-book edition of Divergent is only $3.99 at Amazon right now!
I liked this one too. I liked book 2 a bit better than book 1 (though that is the opposite of most people) and counting down till tomorrow when the final book comes out!
I cannot wait to read the second one! It’s on my TBR list for sure!!
I liked this one, but not as much as I thought I would. After seeing several “If you loved the Hunger Games, then read this. . .” I felt it didn’t quite live up to the hype. My parents both loved it, though. I as well liked book 2 a bit better, which does seem the opposite of many. I pre-ordered a copy of 3 for myself and for my mom’s birthday. We are actually going to a book signing with the author on Saturday!
Stephanie, I have definitely read mixed reviews on comparing it to HG. Jealous you are getting to meet Veronica!!!!!
