Interview with Author:

Keri Lake is a married mother of two living in Michigan.  She writes paranormal romance, urban fantasy and loves a good, tragic love story.  Though novels tend to be her focus, she also writes short stories and flash fiction whenever distraction manages to suck her in to the Land of Shiny Things.

When she isn’t toiling away on plots and protagonists, she enjoys reading, music and travel.  If she could create mystical powers for herself, she’d have the ability to flash to anywhere in the world.  And if she could flash to anywhere in the world at this very moment, she’d be staring at the ocean from her Adirondack chair on the shores of North Carolina.

Keri was nice enough to come on by and answer my Interview questions:

Where do you currently live?

Currently, I live in Michigan

Are you Married? kids? pets?

I’m a married mother of two.  Right now, our only pet is a fish.  We’re considering a puppy now that my kiddos are older.

How did you get started writing?

I’ve been writing since about 4thor 5th grade.  I dabbled a bit in high school and college but didn’t really write my first novel until after I graduated college.

Do you want to thank one person in particular for giving that extra push?

Well, in high school I had a Creative Writing teacher who turned out to be very supportive of my writing.  But my mother has always encouraged me to pursue what makes me happy, so I thank her as well.

How many books did you attempt before you were published?

I attempted to publish a HUGE paranormal YA a few years back. I sent a couple submissions for Somnium as well.  I’m a bit of an entrepreneur, so self-publishing just appealed to me.

Do you have any MUST haves to write? Food, drink or time?

Coffee and music are must haves.  I wake up at ungodly hours (sometimes 3:30am) to write.  Caffeine and my playlist help keep me awake.

Which novel is your favorite of your books?

I didn’t think I could top Soul Avenged, but I’m really loving book 2 of Sons of Wrath.  There’s more focus on the Wrath brothers and they’re so much fun to write.

Who is your favorite character?

Hmmm.  I love writing Gavin because he, in my mind, is this sexy, smooth alpha male.  But Zeke, being the manwhore that he is, reallychallenges me.  So he’s one of my favorites as well.

How many books do you have in the work now?

I’m in edits with Sons of Wrath #2 and working on Requiem (Halos, #2).  I’ve also plotted out future books in the Sons of Wrath series, and I’ll be starting book #3 this summer.

For your next book, What is the name and when is the release date?

Sons of Wrath, #2 has a working title of Soul Resurrected.  I haven’t set a release date yet but shooting for fall.

What inspired you write this book?

I had planned for a series when I started Soul Avenged, and left it open for the sequel.  It kind of begged to be written.

Do you like writing hot romance scenes?

I love writing hot romance scenes!  Although I will say, depending on how sexually charged the character is, they can be challenging at times.

Do you have plans for another new book/series?

I always have plans, but for now I’m going to focus on the two I’m working on first.

What is the 1st book you remember reading and falling in love with?

Where the Wild Things Are

Who is your favorite author? Favorite series?

Anne Rice is my comfort read.  Immortals After Dark by Kresley Cole is probably my favorite series.

What is your favorite quote?

Actually, my favorite quote is an inspirational quote by Maya Angelou:

You can only become truly accomplished at something you love. Don’t make money your goal. Instead pursue the things you love doing and then do them so well that people can’t take their eyes off of you.”

Do you have a favorite book cover?

Um, I kinda like all of Jaci Burton’s Play-by-Play covers.  Drool

Naughtiest book you ever read?

Haha!  Oh boy.  Probably Surrender by Kimberly Zant.

Favorite color?

Tell us something no one knows.

I’m actually a very quiet person and not big on crowds.  My husband is the complete opposite!  He’ll sit and chitchat with just about anyone.

Thank you so much for having me on your blog, Kelly!  Lots of fun questions!

I loved having Keri on and she made my questions seem great by her wonderful answers. Stay tuned for upcoming reviews for Keri’s book:

Passion is blind in vengeance and love  …

Ayden’s suburban home was invaded by a pack of Lycans.

The brutal attack is the only memory she carries of her former life.

Now, one motive burns in her soul:

The Sons of Wrath—a brood of vengeance-dealing warrior demons—band with Ayden to hunt the Lycans on Detroit’s most deadly feeding grounds.

Kane Walker should’ve been her easiest kill.

Unfortunately, the newly bitten Lycan has something she wants—clues that may finally lay her past to rest.  To reach them, she must be willing to submit to the sensual pleasures awakened by his touch.

Time is running out.

In seven days, Kane will become what Ayden despises most.  She can halt his transformation but the antidote requires the ultimate sacrifice.  As the beast takes hold, Kane becomes more of a threat.

Ayden must choose between her lust for revenge, or surrender to her enemy and discover a horrible truth.
