From two different worlds…

Now that she’s escaped her oppressive family, Nyx is enjoying her new life and friends—even if most of her friends don’t know who or what she is. As a rare demigod, she’s just learning how powerful she truly is, but family drama turns her world upside down, throwing the one man she cares about into danger.

He wasn’t supposed to fall for her…

Nyx is nothing like the females half-demon Bo Broussard has been with. Sweet and innocent, she’s not even remotely his type. But the moment she walks into his bar, he knows he’s not letting her go. Unfortunately someone from her past thinks they can force her into an arranged marriage.

He’s not letting her go…

Someone is targeting one of them, and Bo doesn’t know why. When they’re thrown into a hell realm together, he and Nyx will need to band together if they want to survive the perils of that world. No matter who was behind the attack, his choice is clear. Defend Nyx at all cost and make her his forever.

This is the 4th book in Katie Reus’ Darkness series, and you can absolutely read it as a stand-alone. That being said, I read the series out of order and never felt lost, but I did get the chance to see Nyx and Bo throw some sparks in the previous book.

In this one, a favor Nyx asked of her mother in the last book is being called in. Her mother is the Goddess of Chaos so you know when she calls in this debt, it isn’t going to be easy.

When Bo realizes the new server in his bar is more than what she seems, he isn’t intimidated at all. He’s been interested in Nyx since day one, and no way is he staying behind while she goes on some crazy mission for her mother. Where Nyx goes, trouble seems to follow, and he finds himself wanting to protect her.

But this time, someone is targeting them, and he knows there’s more going on with this mission/favor for her mother than meets the eye.

With new friends, and some old friends, these two have to navigate the perils of this mission, and their budding relationship. I really enjoyed this book, and if you ever need a good series to binge, this one is perfect for that. There’s enough recap in each book to refresh you if you need it, but it isn’t so repetitive that if you read them back-to-back that you get annoyed.

If you enjoy good Paranormal Romance, this book (and series) will be perfect for you. And if you’ve been meaning to read a PNR, grab this book! It’s a fun one.
