Interview with Author

Where do you currently reside?
I live in Sydney, Australia

Dogs or Cats?
Dogs

What/who/ How did you get started writing?
I fell into it. I was reading a lot and after a run of books that had left me feeling a little disappointed instead of starting a new one I just started writing what I wanted to read.

Do you want to thank one person in particular for giving that extra push?
All the time. My husband was the one who pushed me to go for it. He always does!

How many books did you attempt before you were published?
Embrace was my first attempt.

Do you have any MUST haves to write? Food, drink or time?
Not really. I like to have a good supply of coffee and chocolate, but really if the story is going well nothing will stop me from getting it down.

Why did you choose YA Fiction as your Genre? Would you say your books slip into the “new adult” genre?
I write YA because I read YA. It was never a conscious decision, I just never considered otherwise. Yes, it does sit on the cusp of YA/Adult and I like it that way though I try to be considerate of younger readers and keep it within acceptable bounds.

Who is your favorite character in your novels?
That is like asking me to pick a favorite child. I can’t. The main three characters take most of my time and emotion, but that said, the other characters like Onyx and Spence and Steph keep me laughing and sane!

Do you have details about your next book, name and release date?
EMBLAZE is my next book out in the U.S. It is the third book in the series and is out March 1.

Do you like writing paranormal?
I do. I love all writing but the excitement that comes from using mythology to elevate humans to more than human is a lot of fun to work with!

Do you have plans for another new book/series in a different genre?
I do. I have a few things in the works. I will finish out the series and I also have a standalone on the way called BETWEEN THE LIVES, which is quite different to the series and I am very passionate about it. After that I have a two book series that will follow.

What is the 1st book you remember reading and falling in love with?
Alice in Wonderland. It is still one of my favorites.

Who is yourfavorite author?
C.S.Lewis

Do you have a favorite quote?
Fill your mind before you fill your pockets

I think your book covers are amazing, Did you have input on them? Do you like them?
I wish I could take the credit but there is an amazing team of designers that do it all. They then pass them on to me and invite feedback. Generally mine goes like the: …drool….drool…’Yep. Love it.’ And we are done.

What book are you dying to read?
I’ve been looking forward to reading Through The Evernight by Veronica Rossi.

Sweet or Sour?
Sour

Tell us something no one knows about you?
I’m fairly certain my 6 year old daughter is already smarter than me. 😉
