Book Three in The Outback Bachelor Ball Series

Sometimes it pays to wait for the things you want, even if it’s the hardest thing you ever do.

Beth Walker hasn’t just been burned by her philandering country music star ex, she’s been barbecued to a crisp. Coming home to Australia and into the arms of her best friends is exactly the balm she needs. Cocktails and laughter at an Outback Bachelor and Spinster Ball seem like the perfect distraction. Until she bumps into the last person she wants seeing her heartsick and pathetic — Jonah Masters, rising country music star and witness to the failure of her marriage. If only she’d met Jonah first. Now she’s broken and won’t ask him to wait until she heals.

Jonah can’t believe he and Beth are finally standing under the same stars. The connection they shared on the road years ago has haunted him but he wouldn’t pursue a married woman. Now she’s free, and Jonah can’t refuse the one night Beth impulsively offers. Can he convince the woman he’s always loved that he’ll wait — however long it takes — for her trust?

This is the third book in a 3 book series where each book has a different author. It’s really cute and fun, and at the moment, each book is $.99!

I read them out of order, and even though each book has the same main event (The Bachelor and Spinster Ball) at its center, and each book has overlapping scenes, they stand alone, and you won’t be confused.

The first couple of scenes in each book has similarities since we’re seeing the same scene from each heroine’s perspective. This book actually skimmed that a bit, so I’d say it won’t stand alone as easily as the others, but it’s a minor thing.

Beth has joined her friends after feeling the humiliation of the past month. Her country music star husband of 4 years has been cheating on her with everyone who offered, it seems. So when she spontaneously decides she’s moving back home to Australia, Jen and Ellie join her.

Their solution is to go to this Outback ball being held near Ellie’s home. Beth can’t wait to be somewhere familiar, and away from the paparazzi. Imagine her surprise when Jonah Masters is there to play with his band. Jonah warned her about her husband several years ago, but she didn’t want to hear it. and the last thing she needs now is his pity at seeing how right he was. Besides, she wants nothing to do with men for a while, let alone another country star.

But Jonah is more than just another country star. He’s been her friend for years.

Jonah has been in love with Beth since he met her when he was an opening act for her husband several years ago. But she’s in the middle of a very messy and very public divorce, so he isn’t going to push her. He knows he’ll wait forever for her. But does she?

I liked how their romance was handled. Beth is a mess after finding out about her husband, and she knows she can’t offer Jonah much right now, and she won’t ask him to wait for her, since she doesn’t want to put him in that situation. What she doesn’t know is that she doesn’t have to ask him. And when she finally comes to her senses, he’s right there, and she knows he’s nothing like her ex.

I do wish we’d seen something more about her ex. Anything from him losing all his money, to being in the tabloids for having multiple STDs. Anything. But I’m vindictive like that 😉

This whole series was fun and cute, I recommend them, especially at this price. You’ll have to let me know if you’ve read them, or if you end up grabbing them. They’re all around 130 pages or so, and easy to read. Enjoy!
