Of Silk and Steam by Bec McMaster Series: London Steampunk #5 Published by Sourcebooks Casablanca on March 3, 2015 Genres: Steampunk, Victorian Romance Pages: 416 Source: Advance Reader Copy, NetGalley Buy at Amazon • Buy at Barnes & Noble • Goodreads Enemies. Allies. Lovers. When her beloved father was assassinated, Lady Aramina swore revenge. The man responsible is well beyond her grasp, but his dangerously seductive heir, Leo Barrons, is fair game. When Mina obtains evidence proving that Leo is illegitimate, she has the means to destroy both the killer and his son, a man who troubles her heart and tempts her body. A woman of mystery, Mina's long driven Leo crazy with glimpses of a fiery passion that lurks beneath her icy veneer. He knows she's hiding something, and he's determined to unravel her layer by silken layer. He just doesn't expect the beautiful liar to be the key to overthrowing the corrupt prince consort… or to saving his own carefully walled-off heart. My first thought upon reading this was that it was great to be back in this world again! Bec McMaster writes so vividly and her characters are so well-written, that you can’t help but love this series! We begin with Lady Aramina dueling. Lord Leo Barrons sees her and wants her. But what I loved about him, is that he isn’t an alphahole character. He’s...Read More

Forged By Desire by Bec McMaster Series: London Steampunk #4 Published by Sourcebooks, Sourcebooks Casablanca on September 2, 2014 Genres: Steampunk Pages: 436 Buy at Amazon • Buy at Barnes & Noble • Goodreads Captain Garret Reed of the Nighthawk guard has a deadly mission: capture a steel-jawed monster preying on women. He hates to put his partner, Perry, in jeopardy, but she’s the best bait he has. Little does he realize, he’s about to be caught in his own trap. Perry has been half in love with Garrett for years, but this is not exactly the best time to start a relationship—especially when their investigation leads them directly into the clutches of the madman she thought she’d escaped... There’s a short story called The Curious Case of the Clockwork Menace (link goes to goodreads) that is sort of a prequel novella to this book. I say “sort of” because it is technically London Steampunk #3.5, but it truly is a prequel to this particular book, not the series. This novella is not imperative the book, but it really builds up the relationship the H/h have before it becomes romantic. Quick backstory: They’re both Nighthawks, and they’re partners. Perry is private and keeps to herself, and Garret is not, but he respects Perry so much, that he also respects her need to privacy. In the novella, we see them...Read More
Kiss of Steel by Bec McMaster Series: London Steampunk #1 Published by Sourcebooks, Sourcebooks Casablanca on September 4, 2012 Genres: Steampunk, Victorian Romance Pages: 423 Source: Advance Reader Copy, NetGalley Goodreads When Nowhere Is Safe Most people avoid the dreaded Whitechapel district. For Honoria Todd, it's the last safe haven. But at what price? Blade is known as the master of the rookeries—no one dares cross him. It's been said he faced down the Echelon's army single-handedly, that ever since being infected by the blood-craving he's been quicker, stronger, and almost immortal. When Honoria shows up at his door, his tenuous control comes close to snapping. She's so...innocent. He doesn't see her backbone of steel—or that she could be the very salvation he's been seeking. Quick Note: I can’t figure out why my images aren’t showing. I’m trying to fix it, so bear with me guys. Today, we get one giant block of text! yay. :/ ~Highland Hussy Honoria Todd is out of options. With nowhere left to turn, she’s taken to hiding in Whitechapel. In this alternate London, the Whitechapel district is run by a blueblood named Blade. Now I had a hard time with Blade. Not his character-he was a great hero!-but picturing him. Yet again we have a Spike from Buffy. I’m so tired of having a white-haired, lower class British accent having, nicknamed, chiseled...Read More

Rating System Explanation
Five stars are like six-pack abs on a really tan, hunky guy not wearing much. They make us drool, we stroke them (the books, not the guys! - sometimes the guys...) and want to make sweet, sweet love to them. Five stars is the hottest, we mean, highest honor.
Four stars is a total hunkalicious of burning love, but maybe we didn't like his hair for some reason. We still think he's hot, and we're still going to recommend him, we mean, the book, to readers because it's a damn fine ass, we mean book.
Three stars = that awkward guy at the party. He's cute and you know he's cute, and if you look at him the right way, he even looks like Brad Pitt a little, but there are flaws. Surprisingly, he's good in bed (because you got drunk and shit happens).
Remember that - yeah we don't either.
One star is like expecting a somewhat attractive guy and being sent a Grumpy cat meme. We appreciate the effort, but no. This book was not for us. Grumpy cat might want to use it for litter though.
