Review: If You’ve Got it, Haunt it by Rose Pressey

If You've Got It, Haunt It by Rose Pressey Series: A Haunted Vintage Mystery #1 Published by Kensington on December 2, 2014 Genres: Chick Lit, Cozy Mystery Pages: 304 Source: Advance Reader Copy, Kensington Books Preferred Reviewer, NetGalley Buy at Amazon • Buy at Barnes & Noble • Goodreads Cookie Chanel has a passion for fashion--and a murder mystery to solve! Cookie Chanel has opened her own vintage clothing boutique, It's Vintage, Y'All, in the charming town of Sugar Creek, Georgia. Always on the lookout for stylish second-hand steals, she attends the estate sale of deceased socialite Charlotte Meadows. But she gets a lot more than she bargained for when Charlotte's ghost appears before her--offering fashion advice and begging Cookie to find out who murdered her. As the persistent poltergeist tags along and a possibly psychic pussycat moves into the shop, Cookie sorts through racks of suspects to see who may be hiding some skeletons in the closet. Do a clothing store owner and a disembodied socialite have a ghost of a chance of collaring a killer--or will Cookie's life be the next one hanging by a thread? Don't miss Cookie Chanel's Fashion Tips! I have mixed feelings on this book. I thought it would be like the “A Witchcraft Mystery” series, which I LOVE Secondhand Spirits, so I snapped it up!But while it’s fun, it’s really not what...

Review: A Bollywood Affair by Sonali Dev

A Bollywood Affair by Sonali Dev Published by Kensington on October 28, 2014 Genres: Chick Lit, Contemp Romance, Women's Fiction Pages: 304 Source: Advance Reader Copy, Kensington Books Preferred Reviewer Buy at Amazon • Buy at Barnes & Noble • Goodreads Mili Rathod hasn’t seen her husband in twenty years—not since she was promised to him at the age of four. Yet marriage has allowed Mili a freedom rarely given to girls in her village. Her grandmother has even allowed her to leave India and study in America for eight months, all to make her the perfect modern wife. Which is exactly what Mili longs to be—if her husband would just come and claim her. Bollywood’s favorite director, Samir Rathod, has come to Michigan to secure a divorce for his older brother. Persuading a naïve village girl to sign the papers should be easy for someone with Samir’s tabloid-famous charm. But Mili is neither a fool nor a gold-digger. Open-hearted yet complex, she’s trying to reconcile her independence with cherished traditions. And before he can stop himself, Samir is immersed in Mili’s life—cooking her dal and rotis, escorting her to her roommate’s elaborate Indian wedding, and wondering where his loyalties and happiness lie. Heartfelt, witty, and thoroughly engaging, Sonali Dev’s debut is both a vivid exploration of modern India and a deeply honest story of love, in all its...

Rating System Explanation

5 Stars

Five stars are like six-pack abs on a really tan, hunky guy not wearing much. They make us drool, we stroke them (the books, not the guys! - sometimes the guys...) and want to make sweet, sweet love to them. Five stars is the hottest, we mean, highest honor.

4 Stars

Four stars is a total hunkalicious of burning love, but maybe we didn't like his hair for some reason. We still think he's hot, and we're still going to recommend him, we mean, the book, to readers because it's a damn fine ass, we mean book.

3 Stars

Three stars = that awkward guy at the party. He's cute and you know he's cute, and if you look at him the right way, he even looks like Brad Pitt a little, but there are flaws. Surprisingly, he's good in bed (because you got drunk and shit happens).

2 Stars

Remember that - yeah we don't either.

1 Stars

One star is like expecting a somewhat attractive guy and being sent a Grumpy cat meme. We appreciate the effort, but no. This book was not for us. Grumpy cat might want to use it for litter though.
