Livy Kowalski has no time for idiots. When you shapeshift into a honey badger, getting through life’s irritants is a finely honed skill. Until she gets stuck housing her nutso cousin and dealing with her dad’s untimely and unexplained demise.

That’s where Vic Barinov comes in—or his house does. Vic can’t step outside without coming back to find Livy devouring his honey stash and getting the TV remote sticky. It gets his animal instincts all riled up. But he’ll have to woo her at high speed: all hell is breaking loose, and Livy is leading the charge…

Livy’s dad died, but since she really didn’t like him, she’s only at the funeral for the drama. But before you think she doesn’t care, let me point out that she’s a honey badger. And we all know honey badger don’t care.

Okay, that may have been a bit over the top, but that’s the best part about this series; this series is completely over the top, and it revels in it.

For those who haven’t read Shelly Laurenston before, I don’t know as I’d suggest reading out of order, but I will say that you’re missing out. This series is hysterical.

So, back to Livy. She’s not necessarily broken up about her father’s death, so when her friend Vic asks her for a favor, she has no problem agreeing. Anything to get away from her crazy family. The favor is a little bit of breaking and entering. But don’t worry! It’s for a good cause! Livy breaks into the apartment of the daughter of a crime boss. She’s trying to find a connection to the man who takes humans to hunt shifters. And boy does she.

Turns out that there’s a stuffed honey badger on the girl’s fireplace. Not like a toy, but a taxidermied stuffed animal. And…

***********Spoiler Alert (but you find out early on***********

It’s Livy’s dad.

Someone hunted and mounted her dad. This is not okay.
Calling in her family, the same family she’d rather avoid, Livy gets them together, and they plan on how to get the man selling out shifters.

The worst part is that a shifter may be in on it, and that’s the worst kind of betrayal. Vic uses his connections to find out who’s protecting the human who plans the hunting trips, and the honey badgers make sure he regrets what he did…and that he’s found. Without his skin. (ew).

I think that the bigger plot usually takes backseat to the romance in this series, and it works. You get so caught up in the fun and the back-and-forth between characters, that you never really mind.

Full of the signature Shelly Laurentson sense of humor, this book had me laughing or smiling almost non-stop.
