A monster hurricane, a long-lost father, the Irish mob, and a rogue vampire are all trying their darndest to smash Dead End, Florida into pieces -- and then another dead body shows up. What are a pawn shop owner and tiger shifter PI to do?

With Hurricane Elvis -- the "storm of the century" – bearing down on Dead End, Florida, Tess, Jack, and the gang have their hands full doing storm prep for themselves and the quirky paranormal residents of the town. They certainly don't have time for the discovery of yet another dead body. But in Dead End, you never know when magic, mayhem, and murder will combine to cause as much chaos as a rogue vampire let loose in a blood bank.

And when Tess, a pawn shop owner who can see how you'll die, and Jack, an ex-soldier and tiger shifter turned private eye, team up to solve another murder, the criminals had better watch out. Because a hurricane is no match for Hurricane Tess, and sometimes it takes a tiger's eye to see the truth.

Warning: This book contains a taxidermied alligator, shapeshifters, the mob, lucky lasagna, a hurricane, a dead body, magic, Elvis song titles, hideously bad singing, horrible puns, a slow-burning romance, mystery, mayhem, and "I laughed so hard I almost peed myself" laughter. Read at your own risk.

This is the fifth book in Alyssa Day’s Tiger’s Eye Mystery series (It’s not really a mystery series though. It’s like an Urban Fantasy lite meets Cozy Mystery. Think like a lighter and funnier Sookie Stackhouse series) and I loved every second of it.

Tess runs a pawn shop in Dead End, FL. Jack is a tiger shifter who if you’ve read any of Alyssa Day’s Warriors of Poseidon series, you’ll recognize. He was the leader of the rebellion. He had a pretty intense role in that series, so seeing her branch off into a lighter series with him has been great! We get to see a side of Jack we’d previously never seen before. I mean, he’s still a 500 lb badass tiger, but we see his light and fluffy side too.

In this story, since it’s book 5, we’re seeing more of Jack and Tess. A date, a kiss, some romance…

But there’s also a mystery, a bad guy, a hurricane bearing down on the town, a happy ending, and all the Elvis puns* you’d ever want!

This book was fun and I smiled a lot. I don’t think you can ask for more!

*Full disclosure, I got to name the Tropical Storm that’s bearing down on Dead End, FL. I suggested Hurricane Elvis and luckily my goofy sense of humor worked for Ms. Day. 🙂 However, that doesn’t affect my opinion of this book. It’s a 5 star book on its own merit, not because I got to name the storm.
