We’ve all been waiting since “Getting Rowdy” for Dash(iel Riske) and Margo’s (Margaret Peterson) story and I, for one, am not disappointed.  I did wonder when Dash appeared in Logan’s story how he’d fit into all this, but I just knew he’d get his own story, and here it is!

So towards the end of “Getting Rowdy” we left Margo and Dash possibly working together to try and bring down a ring that’s been abducting women.  At the beginning of “Dash of Peril” Margo is still on the case – having left poor Dash in the dust – and no closer to exposing the people behind the abductions.  The stakes are definitely getting higher.   Especially now that some of these women have turned up dead and underground films have started appearing showing their sexual assault.  Of course higher stakes means more danger, and after an attempt is made on Margo, Dash decides he’s gonna stick real close to the feisty and sexy Lieutenant.

Of course Logan Riske and Reese Bareden show up since Margo is their boss and I was happy that Cannon Colter, up and coming MMA fighter, played a larger part in this book.

OMG…Dean “Havoc” Conor and Simon Evans visit Cannon toward the end of the book which means…joy of joys Cannon will be kicking off a new series soon based again in the world of MMA!  #WINNING! ;P

Overall it’s a fitting finish to this series.  Margo is a little difficult to like at times even after meeting her family and realizing what she grew up with.   And the ‘have to be tougher than the boys’ mentality gets a wee bit old at times, but I do understand it.  I just wish that author’s didn’t have to point it out because it wouldn’t matter, but I guess some things are still a ‘boys club’.   I also really liked the more dominant flip to Dash.  He came off a little too laid back and easy going for me in the previous books, but he’s definitely got some bite to him and I really appreciate that.  He’s just the right combo of understanding and commanding, with that whole sessy height thing thrown in for good measure.  But I might be biased here.  He he he.

The crime element is hard to take, but I mean that in the best possible sense.  It’s not easy to read about kidnappings and recorded rapes.  Equally not as easy to read it from the minds’ of the people perpetrating it.  I wonder how much an author feels like they need to scrub their brain after being in the head of characters like that?  I liked the added suspense with the girl and her grandfather, but could’ve done without her tie in to Cannon.  It feels a little reminiscent of Casey and Emma from the Buckhorn books.

Another great read from Lori Foster and now comes the inevitable withdrawal period until the next book.  Gack!
